Chinese Mainland Criticizes Taiwan Leader’s Separatist Stance

A spokesperson for the Chinese mainland has issued a sharp critique of Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te, stating that his recent separatist remarks on social media expose a nature that is both "weak" and "deceitful."

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told media queries on Wednesday that since taking office, Lai has stubbornly adhered to a separatist stance. According to Zhu, these actions have positioned the Taiwan leader as a disruptor of the status quo and the primary source of instability within the Taiwan Strait.

The spokesperson further emphasized that Lai has been promoting a "Taiwan independence" separatist fallacy while actively seeking to undermine cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. These efforts, Zhu noted, have met with firm opposition from Taiwan compatriots and the international community.

Addressing recent polling data, Zhu highlighted that more than half of the respondents expressed a lack of confidence in Lai's future performance. The spokesperson asserted that Lai is increasingly losing public support in Taiwan, as his actions over the past two years have run counter to the interests and well-being of the residents of Taiwan.

Zhu concluded by reinforcing the stance that there is only one China and that Taiwan is part of China. The spokesperson stressed that regardless of the actions or statements made by the Taiwan leader, the historical trend toward reunification remains unstoppable.
