China Welcomes Czech PM’s Reaffirmation of One-China Policy

In a significant step toward the normalization of diplomatic relations, China has expressed its strong support for the Czech government's continued commitment to the one-China policy.

The announcement followed an opinion piece by Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, in which he reaffirmed that the Czech government would uphold the one-China policy and actively promote the normalization of ties between the two nations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, speaking at a regular press briefing, highly commended Prime Minister Babis' stance. Guo emphasized that the relationship between China and the Czech Republic is built on a foundation of profound traditional friendship.

"Mutual respect, treating each other as equals, and mutual benefit are important principles in our relations," Guo stated, noting that stable bilateral ties serve the fundamental interests of both countries and reflect the shared aspirations of their people.

Since assuming office, Prime Minister Babis has repeatedly expressed a desire to improve relations with China. The Chinese side has signaled its readiness to work closely with the Czech government to enhance political mutual trust and deepen dialogue and cooperation across various sectors.

This development is seen as a pivotal move to bring bilateral relations back to a track of sound and stable development, promising renewed opportunities for economic and political synergy between the two regions.
