In a recent diplomatic briefing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has issued a stern call to Japan, urging the nation to cease its current trajectory toward remilitarization and to correct its approach regarding the Taiwan region.
Speaking at a daily press briefing on Monday, spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that the actions and remarks from Japan concerning the Taiwan region are erroneous. Guo highlighted that the drive toward remilitarization, propelled by right-wing forces within Japan, represents a direct challenge to the post-World War II international order. Such movements, according to the spokesperson, risk undermining the very cornerstone of peace and stability across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry further contextualized these concerns within the broader framework of regional diplomacy. Guo noted that during a state visit to China by US President Donald Trump, the two heads of state engaged in in-depth exchanges regarding regional issues of mutual interest, underscoring the importance of maintaining stability.
Drawing on historical precedents, Guo reminded the international community that more than 80 years ago, China and the United States, alongside other members of the Allied Forces, successfully defeated Japanese militarists and fascists. This collective victory established the postwar international order, which served as the bedrock for decades of peace and development in the Asia-Pacific.
China has called upon Japan to return to a path of good neighborliness, friendship, and peaceful development.
