China and Tajikistan Strengthen Strategic Ties During High-Level Beijing Meeting

In a significant move to bolster diplomatic and economic ties, China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Beijing this Tuesday. The meeting underscored a mutual commitment to deepening strategic trust and expanding practical cooperation between the two nations.

Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, emphasized that China is prepared to work closely with Tajikistan, using the consensus reached by their respective heads of state as a primary guideline. He highlighted the goal of building a China-Tajikistan community with a shared future, characterized by everlasting friendship, solidarity, and mutual benefit. Furthermore, Zhao pointed out that the NPC is ready to enhance exchanges with the Tajik parliament to establish a strong legal framework that ensures the long-term, healthy, and stable development of bilateral relations.

President Rahmon reaffirmed Tajikistan's steadfast adherence to the one-China principle and expressed full support for the four major global initiatives proposed by China. He noted that Tajikistan views China's achievements in its modernization drive with great appreciation and is eager to strengthen cooperation across various sectors, including politics, economy, and culture.

The discussions concluded with a shared vision of deepening exchanges between legislative bodies and continuing to enhance the bonds of friendship between the peoples of China and Tajikistan, marking a new chapter in China-Central Asia cooperation.
