Xi Outlines Four-Point Plan for Middle East Peace Amid Rising Tensions

Chinese President Xi Jinping unveiled a four-point proposal on Tuesday to address escalating tensions in the Middle East during a meeting with Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, in Beijing. The plan emphasizes peaceful coexistence, respect for sovereignty, adherence to international law, and coordinated development-security strategies to stabilize the region.

Analysts say the proposal clarifies China's stance amid growing concerns over U.S.-Israel-Iran hostilities. Wang Jin of Northwest University of China noted the timing is critical: “Many Gulf states seek balanced partnerships. Xi’s emphasis on dialogue over military solutions aligns with their priorities.”

Wang Yiwei from Renmin University highlighted the plan’s alignment with the UN Charter and China’s Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence: “Respecting sovereignty and prioritizing dialogue are vital to prevent further escalation. Gulf nations increasingly view China as a stabilizing force.”

The proposal also addresses economic concerns, urging collaborative efforts to create development-friendly environments. Experts argue this approach strengthens China’s role as a mediator while reinforcing its commitment to multilateralism.
