Robots Steal Spotlight at Hainan’s 2026 Consumer Expo

Robots are dominating the spotlight at the 6th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), currently underway in Hainan’s Haikou. The event, running from April 13 to 18, marks the first national-level consumer expo since the Hainan Free Trade Port launched island-wide special customs operations, positioning the region as a hub for global trade innovation.

Hall 1’s technology zone has become a major attraction, featuring interactive robot guides and agile robot dogs. The AI-powered guide, equipped with real-time knowledge of the exhibition layout, answers visitor queries with precision. Nearby, a robot dog demonstrates its ability to follow users autonomously, perform playful gestures like forming a heart, and navigate everyday tasks such as package delivery—all while reaching speeds of up to 3 meters per second.

Over 3,400 brands from 60 countries and regions are participating, underscoring the expo’s role as a gateway to China’s consumer market. Since its 2021 debut, the CICPE has hosted 3,800 enterprises and 12,000 brands from 92 countries and regions, cementing its status as the Asia-Pacific’s largest consumer goods exhibition.

This year’s theme, 'Sharing Open Opportunities, Creating a Better Life,' aligns with Hainan’s ambitions to attract overseas investors and showcase cutting-edge innovations. Analysts highlight the expo’s growing importance for multinationals seeking insights into China’s evolving consumer trends.
