In an era defined by rapid technological shifts and complex global tensions, scholars are looking to the past to find a roadmap for the future. From June 9 to 10, the Academy of Athens in Greece will host the second World Conference of Classical Studies, bringing together approximately 200 experts from more than 20 countries.

The conference, themed Dialogue between Ancient and Modern: Contemporary Inspirations from Classical Wisdom, aims to transcend academic boundaries. By promoting a dialogue among specialists in classical civilizations, archaeology, history, and culture, the event seeks to determine how insights from ancient traditions can provide practical solutions for today's societal challenges.
The event represents a significant international collaboration, jointly organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), China's Ministry of Education, China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Greece's Ministry of Culture, and the Academy of Athens.

Yue Yunxia, vice director of the Bureau of International Cooperation at CASS, emphasized during a press briefing in Beijing that the conference serves as a critical platform for academic exchange and the building of a global consensus among researchers of classical civilizations.

The conference program is designed to move beyond theoretical study, focusing on four key parallel forums:
- Classical Education: Integrating ancient pedagogical wisdom into the modern world.

- Peace and Global Order: Applying civilizational approaches to resolve conflicts and establish stability.
- Technology and Humanism: Examining the relationship between artificial intelligence and humanistic values.
Organizers anticipate that the discussions will offer fresh perspectives on governance, justice, and intercultural dialogue. To ensure a lasting impact, a joint initiative on addressing global challenges is expected to be released at the conference's conclusion. Furthermore, the Chinese Institute of Classical Civilization Studies will launch a new international visiting scholar program to foster ongoing research.

Adding a visual and interactive dimension to the academic discourse, the exhibition Bringing Classics into the Modern World will run alongside the conference. The showcase will feature classical texts, archaeological milestones, and cultural heritage preservation projects.
