Global Sumud Flotilla: Activists Allege Violence During Aid Mission

International activists who participated in the recent Global Sumud Flotilla are speaking out about their experiences following the interception of aid vessels on May 20. The participants describe a harrowing encounter with Israeli forces, alleging violent abuse and systemic mistreatment.

According to the activists, after the vessels were intercepted, they were detained and transferred to what they termed "prison boats." Multiple participants reported being violently assaulted by Israeli officers during their detention, describing the environment as one of intimidation and force.

Despite the reported injuries and trauma, the flotilla members emphasized that their experiences are minor compared to the daily hardships faced by Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. They further asserted that the ongoing humanitarian crisis is exacerbated by a sense of impunity granted to Israel by various governments worldwide.

In response to these allegations, Israel's foreign ministry has countered the activists' claims. The ministry stated that no protesters were injured during the events of Wednesday, May 20, maintaining that security forces utilized only non-lethal means as a warning to the activists.
