NVIDIA and Unitree Unveil Isaac GR00T: Revolutionizing Humanoid Robotics

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently announced a strategic partnership with Unitree Robotics to launch the Isaac GR00T reference humanoid robot. This integrated platform is designed to significantly accelerate the pace of global humanoid robotics research and development, providing a standardized foundation for the next generation of intelligent machines.

The system is specifically tailored for leading research institutions, including Stanford University and ETH Zurich. It represents a sophisticated fusion of international expertise, utilizing Unitree's H2 robot body, five-finger dexterous hands from Singapore-based Sharpa, and NVIDIA's comprehensive full-stack AI infrastructure.

Physically, the H2 platform is designed for human-like interaction, standing approximately 1.8 meters tall and weighing 68 kilograms. The robot features 31 degrees of freedom (DOF), while the specialized hands from Sharpa provide an additional 25 DOF each, enabling the advanced manipulation required for complex tasks.

Powering this mechanical marvel is the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor T5000, built on the cutting-edge Blackwell GPU architecture. Serving as the robot's "brain," this hardware delivers up to 2,070 FP4 trillion operations per second and 128GB of memory. It runs the Isaac GR00T foundation model, which provides the essential reasoning and decision-making capabilities that allow the robot to interact with its environment intelligently.

This reference design marks a pivotal step in NVIDIA's strategy to build a foundational ecosystem for physical AI. By integrating tactile technology, robust hardware, and edge computing into a single, validated configuration, NVIDIA aims to lower the barriers for developers worldwide to train and deploy sophisticated humanoid applications.
