Record-Breaking Delivery: China Sets Global Milestone with Two Mega Oil Tankers

In a significant milestone for the global maritime industry, the Chinese mainland has set a new world record with the simultaneous delivery of two massive oil tankers in Dalian, Liaoning Province.

On Thursday, June 4, two 306,000-deadweight-tonne very large crude carriers (VLCCs)—named the EVROS and the ACHELOOS—were officially named and delivered. The event marks a historic achievement, establishing a new global record for the simultaneous delivery of vessels within this class.

These sister ships were independently developed and designed by the Dalian-based Hengli Heavy Industries. As marvels of modern engineering, each vessel measures 332.8 meters in length, 60 meters in beam, and 30 meters in depth, maintaining a service speed of 14.5 knots.

The successful launch of these tankers is more than just a logistical victory; it serves as a testament to the innovation and precision of independent design and construction within the Chinese mainland. For business professionals and global investors, this development highlights the increasing capacity and competitiveness of China's high-end shipbuilding sector.

As global trade continues to evolve, the delivery of the EVROS and ACHELOOS underscores the dynamic industrial progress in Northeast China, reinforcing its role as a critical hub for maritime technology and global energy logistics.
