Luminous Tradition: The Golden Dragon Procession of Yulong River

In the heart of Yangshuo, Guilin, a breathtaking spectacle transforms the serene waters of the Yulong River into a scene of myth and light. As night falls over the Guangxi region, the river becomes the stage for the "golden dragon," a luminous procession that captivates visitors and locals alike.

The spectacle is a feat of coordination and artistry. On weekends and during festive nights, more than 50 traditional bamboo rafts are linked end to end, stretching across 300 meters of the waterway. Adorned with tens of thousands of glowing lanterns, the procession mimics the shimmering scales of a golden dragon gliding through the dark.

The journey begins at the historic Yulong Bridge, where the dragon slips through the ancient stone arch. It then winds its way around Panlong Islet, creating a flowing ribbon of gold against the backdrop of the region's iconic karst mountains, before eventually bringing its head and tail together at a sweeping river bend.

For travelers and cultural explorers visiting the Chinese mainland, the Yulong River procession offers a unique blend of traditional river culture and modern visual artistry, highlighting the enduring charm of Guilin's natural and cultural landscapes.
