China’s Top Legislator Zhao Leji Set for Diplomatic Visits to Kazakhstan and Russia

In a move to further strengthen diplomatic ties and regional cooperation, Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is scheduled to undertake official goodwill visits to Kazakhstan and Russia from May 25 to 30.

The upcoming tour highlights the importance of legislative diplomacy in fostering stability and economic synergy across Eurasia. During his visit to Russia, Zhao will attend the 11th meeting of the China-Russia committee for parliamentary cooperation, a key forum for aligning strategic goals between the two nations.

These visits come at the invitation of high-ranking officials from both host countries. In Kazakhstan, Zhao was invited by Yerlan Koshanov, speaker of the Mazhilis, the lower house of Kazakhstan's parliament. In Russia, the invitations were extended by Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

For business professionals and investors, these high-level exchanges often signal a deepening of bilateral agreements and a commitment to shared infrastructure and trade goals. As China continues to expand its engagement with Central Asian and Russian partners, these visits underscore a strategic focus on legislative collaboration to support broader diplomatic objectives.
