China to Debut Dedicated AI Zone at 2026 International Supply Chain Expo

Beijing is preparing to welcome the world for the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), scheduled to take place from June 22 to 26. Under the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," the event aims to foster a more open economy and strengthen the bonds between domestic and international businesses at the China International Exhibition Center in the Shunyi District.

A New Era of Intelligence

The 2026 edition marks a significant milestone with the introduction of a dedicated artificial intelligence (AI) zone. For the first time, the expo will showcase the entire AI ecosystem—ranging from essential data collection and computing infrastructure to practical, real-world applications. This zone is designed to illustrate how AI is fundamentally transforming supply chains across various industrial sectors, driving efficiency and innovation.

Integrating Innovation and Talent

Central to this year's event is the "four-chain integration" model. By merging the innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains, the expo provides a cohesive platform where researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and skilled professionals can collaborate. This strategic approach is expected to yield significant results, with over 160 new product debuts focusing on the cultivation of new quality productive forces and the evolution of supply chain technology.

A Global Gathering

The expo continues to expand its international footprint. Australia will serve as the guest country of honor, marking its first official national participation. Additionally, the event will feature guest provinces from abroad, including Italy's Liguria region and France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, alongside domestic guest provinces Anhui and Hainan.

The scale of international interest is evident in the participation of over 670 companies, more than a third of which are from overseas. Tech industry leaders such as Nvidia, Intel, and Qualcomm are among the exhibitors. Furthermore, global organizations including the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will host displays, cementing the expo's status as a premier global platform for cooperation.

Strategic Timing and Regional Integration

The timing of the expo is particularly significant as 2026 is designated as the APEC "China Year." The APEC Business Leaders' China Forum will be held immediately preceding the expo, facilitating high-level dialogues on regional economic integration. Amidst a period of structural volatility and a sluggish global economic recovery, the CISCE underscores the commitment of the Chinese mainland to stabilizing global supply chains and leading the charge in innovation and sustainability.
