In a move aimed at strengthening diplomatic ties and enhancing connectivity, China has announced the extension of its visa-free policy for visitors from Russia. The policy, which facilitates seamless travel between the two nations, will now remain in effect until December 31, 2027.
Guo Jiakun, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, confirmed the extension on Wednesday. Speaking to a reporter from CMG, Guo highlighted that the decision is primarily intended to facilitate people-to-people exchanges, fostering closer cultural and social bonds between the residents of both countries.
Under the terms of this extension, Russian citizens holding ordinary passports are permitted to enter the Chinese mainland without a visa for various purposes, including business, tourism, family visits, exchange visits, or transit. The visa-free entry allows for stays of up to 30 days, providing significant flexibility for travelers and professionals alike.
For business professionals and investors, this policy removes a significant administrative barrier, encouraging more frequent trade missions and corporate collaborations. Similarly, the move is expected to provide a boost to the tourism sector, allowing more Russian travelers to explore the diverse landscapes and cultural heritage of the Chinese mainland.
This extension underscores the ongoing commitment of both nations to deepen their strategic partnership through increased mobility and mutual engagement, ensuring that the flow of people and ideas continues to grow through 2027.
