HARBIN – Cooperation between China and Russia across various sectors has yielded fruitful results, driven by the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing announced this past weekend.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the 10th China-Russia Expo in Harbin, the capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, Zhang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the growing synergy between the two nations.
The event was marked by the exchange of high-level diplomatic sentiments, as Zhang and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev, who also serves as the presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District of Russia, read out congratulatory letters from their respective heads of state.
During his address, Zhang emphasized China's commitment to adhering to the consensus reached by the two leaders. He stressed the importance of leveraging platforms like the China-Russia Expo and maximizing the potential of the Northeast-Far East cooperation mechanism to continuously expand opportunities for win-win development.
Echoing these sentiments, Trutnev expressed Russia's eagerness to utilize intergovernmental cooperation mechanisms to unlock local potential and further enrich the achievements of the bilateral relationship.
The expo coincided with high-level diplomatic deliberations, as Zhang and Trutnev co-chaired the sixth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation of Northeast China and the Far East Region of Russia on Saturday, signaling a deepened commitment to regional integration and economic growth.
