Macao SAR Intensifies National Security Initiatives
Marking China's National Security Education Day on April 15, the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) launched a month-long series of activities aimed at reinforcing public awareness of national security. The campaign, jointly organized by the Macao SAR government and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, will run through May 15 with free public access to exhibitions and film screenings.
Strategic Alignment with Development Goals
This year's theme, 'Coordinating Development and Security: Safeguarding the New Journey of the 15th Five-Year Plan,' reflects Macao's commitment to integrating security measures with its economic modernization agenda. Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai emphasized that maintaining national security forms the cornerstone of Macao's stability under the 'One Country, Two Systems' framework, pledging to strengthen legal frameworks and cross-sector security capabilities.
Building a Resilient Future
Zheng Xincong, director of the liaison office, called for unified efforts to advance national security system modernization. The initiatives align with broader goals to enhance Macao's role as a secure hub for regional development, particularly as the SAR implements key aspects of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
