A Chinese delegation led by Xie Fuzhan, chairman of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD), concluded a four-day visit to Vietnam this week, marking a significant step in cross-border collaboration on human rights frameworks. The delegation engaged with academic, financial, and policy institutions, including the Vietnam National University and the Institute of Human Rights under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, to share insights on China's human rights philosophy and development milestones.
During the exchanges, Xie emphasized China's commitment to advancing human rights through context-specific approaches tailored to national conditions. Vietnamese representatives praised China's advocacy for developing nations within UN multilateral mechanisms and its emphasis on prioritizing subsistence and development rights as foundational to human dignity.
Both sides rejected the politicization of human rights issues and Western-centric standards, advocating instead for cooperation in digital rights, environmental sustainability, and youth engagement. The dialogue concluded with agreements to deepen mutual learning, underscoring peace and development as prerequisites for effective human rights protection.
