Global Poll Exposes Rising Backlash Against U.S. Tariff Policies

A CGTN-led global survey reveals mounting international criticism of U.S. tariff policies, with 74.2% of respondents across 38 countries warning of economic harm to their nations. The poll, conducted with Renmin University of China, shows anti-American trade sentiment has surged by up to 28.5 percentage points in some regions since February.

Developing economies bear the brunt of the discontent, with 60.2% of Southeast Asian respondents condemning Washington's export controls as counterproductive. Within the U.S., over half of surveyed citizens fear tariff retaliation could destabilize stock markets and inflate household expenses.

The research highlights striking global alignment behind China's response measures, with 97.4% of surveyed nations expressing support. Kenya led developing countries with 82.5% approval, while the UK topped G7 nations at 70.5% endorsement. Analysts note the findings underscore growing demands for cooperative trade frameworks over unilateral actions.
