Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation. On Saturday, Xi exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam.
Xi highlighted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, form a community with a shared future of strategic significance. Over the past 75 years, the two nations have stood side by side, supporting each other in the struggles for national independence and liberation. He noted that the profound friendship between the two countries is vividly captured in the phrase, 'So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers.'
The Chinese leader emphasized the importance of learning from each other in advancing socialism and forging ahead together, which has deepened comprehensive strategic cooperation. He remarked that sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of the relations between the two parties and countries.
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi said both sides pledged to work towards building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, raising bilateral relations to a new stage. He stressed that as the world undergoes unprecedented changes, it is crucial for China and Vietnam to continue following the socialist path in good faith, which bears on the future of both nations and has significant implications for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Xi expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
