China Advances Satellite Tech with Shiyan-22 Launch

China successfully launched the Shiyan-22 communication technology test satellite on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province. The Long March-3B rocket lifted off at 11:08 p.m. Beijing Time, deploying the satellite into its designated orbit to support satellite communication, radio and television broadcasting, and data transmission services.

The Shiyan-22 will conduct critical technical validations to enhance China’s space-based communication infrastructure. This mission marked the 615th flight of the Long March rocket series, which also set a single-day record by completing three successful launches: the Shiyan-22, the 15th group of low-orbit internet satellites, and the Yaogan-47 remote-sensing satellite.

This achievement underscores China’s growing capabilities in space technology and its commitment to advancing global telecommunications infrastructure. The Long March rockets, a cornerstone of China’s space program, continue to demonstrate reliability and innovation in 2025.
