Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng emphasized the need to strengthen economic collaboration between Beijing and Washington during a pivotal meeting with U.S.-China Business Council President Craig Allen in Beijing this week. The discussions come as both nations work to stabilize relations following recent diplomatic engagements between their leaders.
"Guided by the strategic leadership of our presidents, we must maintain momentum in expanding cooperation while resolving differences," He stated on Tuesday. The vice premier highlighted multiple productive conversations between the Chinese and U.S. leaders this year, including a significant meeting in Busan that yielded important bilateral agreements.
With China preparing to implement its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), He reaffirmed commitments to high-standard economic reforms and welcomed increased U.S. investment. "We aim to create sustainable growth in our economic partnership," he added, noting opportunities in emerging sectors aligned with China's modernization goals.
Allen acknowledged progress made through recent presidential diplomacy, telling Chinese media: "We're committed to bridging communication gaps and advancing practical cooperation." The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about developing new mechanisms for commercial dialogue in 2026.
