Xining Wildlife Park Celebrates Snow Leopard Conservation Success

Xining Wildlife Park hosted a vibrant exhibition to commemorate the International Day of the Snow Leopard on October 23, drawing crowds with immersive displays of rescued big cats' journeys. The event featured rare photographs, video footage, and artifacts documenting conservation efforts in Qinghai Province – a critical habitat for this nationally protected species.

As a Class I protected animal in China, snow leopards thrive in high-altitude regions including Qinghai, Xizang, and Gansu. Over recent years, rangers at the park's Qinghai Wildlife Rescue and Breeding Center have rehabilitated 12 snow leopards, successfully reintroducing several to their natural habitats. This year's rescues – a pair named Ling Xiaozhe and Ling Xiaomang – are currently undergoing rehabilitation, symbolizing ongoing preservation efforts.

The exhibition attracted numerous student groups and wildlife enthusiasts, offering insights into ecological balance and China's biodiversity initiatives. Park officials emphasized that such events help bridge public awareness with scientific conservation strategies in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau region.
