Thairath had cited an alleged Lao military emergency notice claiming "intense clashes" with armed Cambodian individuals who crossed the border illegally, resulting in arrests and weapon seizures. However, both Laos and Cambodia swiftly refuted the story. The Lao People's Army News stated it received no notifications about such incidents, while Cambodian Defense Ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata emphasized the claims "never occurred."
The conflicting accounts highlight sensitivities around border security in Southeast Asia, where territorial disputes occasionally spark tensions.
