Global Powers Demand Gaza Ceasefire Amid Aid Crisis

Over 20 nations, including the UK, France, and Japan, issued a joint call on Monday for an immediate end to the war in Gaza, condemning Israel's aid delivery model as 'dangerous' and 'inhumane' following the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians near food distribution sites. The countries' foreign ministers highlighted that more than 800 civilians were killed while seeking aid, accusing Israel of fueling instability and depriving Gazans of dignity.

Controversy Over Aid Distribution

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), backed by the U.S. and Israel, has faced criticism for bypassing the UN-led aid system. The GHF relies on private U.S. security and logistics firms to deliver supplies, a move Israel claims prevents Hamas-led militants from looting aid—a charge Hamas denies. The UN, however, has called the GHF model unsafe and a violation of humanitarian standards, which the GHF disputes.

Diplomatic Pressure Mounts

The joint statement marks a rare rebuke from Israel's allies, including Australia and Canada, who urged a ceasefire and condemned the 'drip feeding' of aid. The U.S. has yet to publicly respond to the criticism, though its support for the GHF remains central to the debate. Analysts suggest the escalating civilian toll and aid shortages could intensify global pressure for a resolution.
