High-level economic discussions between China and the United States resumed this week in London, with experts highlighting the potential for strengthened bilateral ties. The first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism opened Monday, attended by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng and U.S. representatives.
Wu Zewei, a special researcher at Sushang Bank, emphasized the enduring opportunities for collaboration between the world's two largest economies. "The Geneva meetings in May demonstrated that mutual benefits significantly outweigh differences," Wu noted, referencing previous high-level talks in Switzerland.
The London dialogue follows a recent phone conversation between the countries' leaders, which analysts say has created fresh momentum for pragmatic engagement. While specific agenda items remain undisclosed, the talks are expected to address critical issues including technology standards, sustainable development, and market access.
