Kyiv Supermarket Shooting Leaves 6 Dead, 14 Injured in Terror Attack

A deadly shooting in Kyiv’s Holosiivsky district on Saturday left six people dead and 14 injured, with Ukrainian authorities classifying the incident as a terrorist act. The attack began when a 58-year-old gunman opened fire on pedestrians before taking hostages in a nearby supermarket, according to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

The assailant was killed during a law enforcement operation to apprehend him. The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) confirmed it is investigating the shooting as terrorism, stating the attacker’s motives remain unclear. “Investigators have classified the shooting of civilians and the taking of hostages as a terrorist act,” the SSU said in a formal statement.

This incident marks one of the deadliest acts of violence in Kyiv this year, raising concerns about public safety amid ongoing regional tensions. Ukrainian officials have not yet linked the attack to broader geopolitical conflicts but emphasized that all angles are being explored.
