Shenzhou-21 Crew Completes Third Spacewalk Series in 2026 Milestone

The Shenzhou-21 crew aboard China's Tiangong space station successfully concluded their third series of extravehicular activities (EVAs) on Friday, marking another leap forward in the nation's manned space program. The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) confirmed the astronauts—Zhang Lu, Wu Fei, and Zhang Hongzhang—returned to the station’s core module at 1:36 a.m. Beijing Time after a 5.5-hour operation.

Utilizing the station’s advanced robotic arm and guided by ground support, the team conducted critical equipment installations and experimental module adjustments. Zhang Lu, now a veteran of seven spacewalks, has solidified his status as one of China’s most experienced astronauts in extravehicular operations.

This achievement underscores the growing technical proficiency of China’s space program, which continues to expand the capabilities of its orbital laboratory. The CMSA emphasized the mission’s role in advancing long-term space habitation research and international collaboration prospects.
