China Denies Iran Arms Supply Reports, Warns Against Tariff Escalation

China has firmly rejected recent media reports alleging plans to supply weapons to Iran, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun dismissing the claims as "groundless" during a press briefing on Monday. The statement comes amid heightened global attention to Middle East tensions and U.S.-China trade relations.

"China consistently adheres to the principles of non-interference and peaceful resolution of conflicts," Guo stated, emphasizing Beijing's opposition to "baseless smears or malicious associations" regarding its foreign policy. The remarks follow unverified Western reports suggesting potential military cooperation between Beijing and Tehran.

When questioned about former U.S. President Donald Trump's recent threat to impose 50% additional tariffs on Chinese goods if military equipment transfers to Iran occur, Guo responded: "History has shown there are no winners in tariff wars. China always advocates for resolving trade disputes through dialogue and mutual respect."

Analysts suggest the exchange highlights ongoing complexities in Asia-Pacific geopolitics as global powers navigate evolving security alliances and economic pressures. The Chinese mainland maintains its position as a stabilizing force in regional conflicts while pursuing multilateral diplomatic solutions.
