Liu Sitong Secures Bronze in Paralympic Giant Slalom Showdown

Chinese alpine skier Liu Sitong added another milestone to her 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics campaign, earning a bronze medal in the women's giant slalom sitting event on Thursday. The 31-year-old athlete, who carried China's flag during the Games' opening ceremony, now holds four bronze medals from this year's competition.

Liu delivered a strong first run of 1:16.38, followed by a consistent 1:18.41 in her second attempt, securing her podium position. Teammate Zhang Wenjing finished sixth, while Germany's Anna-Lena Forster claimed gold with a dominant performance.

In the women's standing category, defending champion Zhang Mengqiu placed fifth, with Zhu Wenjing close behind in sixth. Sweden's Ebba Aarsjoe captured the title in a fiercely contested final.

Liu's achievements highlight China's growing presence in winter adaptive sports, building on the nation's Paralympic momentum following its successful hosting of the 2022 Winter Games.
