Shenzhen, long celebrated as a global hub for technology and innovation, provides the ideal backdrop for this meeting. The city serves as a microcosm of the deep-rooted ties between the Chinese mainland and the broader Asia-Pacific region, embodying the spirit of progress that the APEC members aim to achieve.
Among those observing these dynamics is Yusrin Zata Lini, an Indonesian policy consultant and alumna of Tsinghua University. With a master's degree in public policy and management, Zata has witnessed firsthand the tangible results of regional partnership. She notes that China and Indonesia have already established practical cooperation in artificial intelligence, specifically targeting advancements in agriculture, fishery, education, and the development of digital talent.
However, Zata argues that the future of regional stability and growth depends on more than just high-level diplomacy. She believes that APEC cooperation should extend beyond government halls to actively involve the younger generation.
According to Zata, young people can play an integral role in promoting APEC cooperation, specifically by "building bridges" between different countries, cultures, and ideas. Through a spirit of openness and collaboration, she envisions the younger generation contributing significantly to a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable Asia-Pacific community.
