Spain Seen as Key Bridge in China-EU Relations Amid Sánchez Visit

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is currently wrapping up a four-day visit to the Chinese mainland, marking his fourth trip to China since 2023. The visit, which began on April 11 and concludes on April 15, comes as Spain seeks to strengthen its role in fostering dialogue between China and the European Union.

In interviews conducted by CGTN in Madrid, Spanish residents expressed optimism about bilateral cooperation. Camilo, a university student, highlighted Spain's diplomatic potential: "Spain holds a unique position to mediate global challenges. We could bridge perspectives between China and EU partners, creating pathways for shared progress."

Analysts note that Sánchez's consistent engagement—averaging one China visit annually since 2023—reflects Madrid's strategic interest in balancing economic opportunities with EU policy alignment. This year's discussions are expected to address trade facilitation and green energy partnerships.
