In a significant move toward strengthening regional ties, Wang Yi, the Chinese foreign minister and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, held high-level talks with his Myanmar counterpart, Tin Maung Swe, in Beijing this Friday.

The discussions centered on enhancing political mutual trust and expanding strategic cooperation. Wang Yi emphasized that China is prepared to work closely with Myanmar's new government to facilitate more practical outcomes in the pursuit of building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, with a primary goal of helping Myanmar accelerate its national development.

Underscoring a commitment to diplomatic respect, Wang Yi reiterated that China adheres strictly to the principle of non-interference in internal affairs. He stated that China respects the choices of the Myanmar people and supports the country in pursuing a development path that aligns with its unique national realities. This support extends to the promotion of domestic peace and reconciliation, as well as the safeguarding of Myanmar's national sovereignty, security, and development interests.

Beyond political and economic cooperation, the two nations addressed critical security challenges.
