China Urges New Zealand Lawmakers to Abide by One-China Principle

In a clear assertion of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has called upon specific lawmakers from New Zealand to strictly adhere to the one-China principle.

During a regular press briefing, spokesperson Mao Ning addressed the decision to impose entry bans and other restrictive measures on several New Zealand lawmakers. These actions follow recent visits by the individuals to the Taiwan region, moves that Beijing views as a violation of the one-China principle and an interference in its internal affairs.

Mao Ning emphasized that these visits took place despite China's serious concerns and firm opposition. Consequently, in accordance with the laws of the People's Republic of China, the government has decided to implement measures, including entry bans, against the lawmakers involved.

The spokesperson highlighted that the one-China principle is not only a prevailing consensus within the international community and a basic norm of international relations but also serves as the critical political foundation for the relations between China and New Zealand.

China continues to urge relevant individuals to genuinely respect its sovereignty. Mao Ning warned that those who "cross the line" on the Taiwan question will inevitably pay the price, reinforcing the importance of maintaining stability in cross-strait ties and international diplomatic protocols.
