The 2026 Global Poverty Reduction and Development Forum recently concluded in Beijing, leaving a significant mark on the international community's approach to eradicating poverty. Global experts gathered to acclaim the poverty reduction governance implemented by China, recognizing its effectiveness as a model for shared development.
A centerpiece of the forum was the official launch of the Global Partnership for Poverty Alleviation and Development (GPPAD). This landmark initiative, spearheaded by China in collaboration with 53 countries and nine international organizations, is designed to accelerate the fight against poverty on a global scale.
The GPPAD aims to move beyond one-size-fits-all solutions by emphasizing the importance of respecting national realities. By fostering broad-based cooperation between governments, international organizations, enterprises, academia, and the media, the partnership seeks to tackle the root causes of poverty through shared experiences and strategic collaboration.
During the proceedings, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong underscored the urgency of joint global action. He affirmed that China would provide comprehensive support to the GPPAD through policy dialogues, technical demonstrations, and talent training. Furthermore, the Chinese mainland will launch a series of "small yet smart" projects specifically tailored to help developing nations enhance their own anti-poverty capacities.
As the world seeks sustainable pathways to prosperity, the launch of the GPPAD signals a renewed commitment to inclusive growth, ensuring that no nation is left behind in the pursuit of development.
