In a vibrant celebration of cultural diplomacy, a Chinese documentary screening series was launched in Belgrade this past Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the deepening relationship between China and Serbia.
The initiative comes at a pivotal moment, occurring just days before Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is scheduled to embark on an official visit to China from May 24 to 28. By bringing the stories of the Chinese mainland to the heart of Serbia, the event aims to foster a deeper mutual understanding between the two nations.
The screening series was the result of a broad collaborative effort, co-organized by the China Media Group (CMG), Radio Television of Serbia (PTC), the Serbian Ministry of Culture, the Chinese Embassy in Serbia, and the Serbian Embassy in China. The curated selection of CMG-produced documentaries provides a window into the diverse facets of modern China, exploring its rich cultural heritage, cutting-edge technological innovations, dedicated ecological conservation efforts, and rapid social development.
To ensure a wide reach among the Serbian public, several of these titles are set to air on PTC and will be available on the Politika website, blending traditional broadcasting with digital accessibility.
In a written address, CMG President Shen Haixiong emphasized the importance of the initiative, describing it as a concrete step toward deepening people-to-people ties. He noted that this cultural exchange operates under the framework of the China-Serbia community with a shared futureāa visionary partnership in which Serbia holds the distinction of being the first European country to partner with China in such a capacity.
As Belgrade welcomes these cinematic narratives, the event sets a warm and collaborative tone for the upcoming diplomatic engagements between the two nations later this week.
