China Reaffirms Sovereignty Following Trump’s Remarks on Taiwan Region

In a clear assertion of its national sovereignty, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has responded to recent comments made by US President Donald Trump regarding the Taiwan region. During a regular news briefing on Monday, spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that China has taken careful note of the US President's remarks.

Guo reaffirmed the Chinese government's steadfast position, stating that "Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory; it has never been a country, and will never be one in the future."

These developments follow President Trump's state visit to China. In a subsequent interview, Trump indicated that the United States is not seeking a scenario where parties claim, "let's go independent because the United States is backing us."

Addressing the tension between separatist movements and regional stability, Guo described the relationship between "Taiwan independence" and cross-strait peace as being as "irreconcilable as fire and water." He further noted that seeking independence by relying on foreign support is a futile endeavor, asserting that national reunification remains the only path to a bright and sustainable future.

Concluding the briefing, the spokesperson urged the Democratic Progressive Party authorities to acknowledge the prevailing global and regional trends, face the existing reality, and rein in their wrongdoings before it is too late.
