In a significant move toward strengthening economic ties, representatives of the US business community accompanying President Donald Trump on his visit to China have expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation with the Chinese mainland.
Executives from several leading US enterprises recently convened with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) to explore strategic opportunities across diverse sectors, including technology, aviation, and agriculture. These discussions highlight a shared commitment to expanding commercial horizons and fostering mutual growth in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
The sentiment of optimism was echoed by key industry leaders. Brian Sikes, chairman and CEO of agribusiness giant Cargill—which has maintained a presence in the Chinese market for over five decades—remarked that communication between the two sides has been positive, signaling that both parties are heading toward a more collaborative relationship.
The technology sector is similarly looking toward future innovations. Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of chipmaker Qualcomm, expressed high optimism regarding the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in China, particularly within the industrial sector. Amon emphasized Qualcomm's intent to continue expanding its operations, describing the future prospects as "very promising."
Ren Hongbin, chairman of the CCPIT, noted that the meeting between the two heads of state has established favorable conditions for enhanced economic, trade, and investment cooperation. He affirmed that the CCPIT will continue to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between the business communities of the two nations to ensure sustainable growth.
