In a significant diplomatic engagement this week, China's top political advisor Wang Huning met with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman in Beijing to discuss the future of bilateral relations and strategic growth.
Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), emphasized that China remains committed to developing friendly relations with Bangladesh. He noted that these ties are firmly rooted in the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, providing a stable foundation for mutual growth.
During the discussions, Wang called for the strengthening of high-level exchanges and a deepening of cooperation across various sectors. He highlighted the importance of promoting the substantive development of the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, aiming to create tangible benefits for the people of both nations. He further expressed the CPPCC National Committee's willingness to contribute positively to these shared goals.
Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman reciprocated these sentiments, describing China as a "true friend" of Bangladesh. He underscored that China holds a priority position in Bangladesh's diplomacy and reaffirmed the nation's steadfast adherence to the one-China principle.
Furthermore, Rahman expressed strong belief in UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and voiced Bangladesh's support for China's national reunification. He concluded by stating that Bangladesh looks forward to carrying forward its historical friendship with China, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to even higher levels through enhanced practical cooperation.
