Beijing Xiangshan Forum Navigator Meeting Set for Early May

Beijing is preparing to host a pivotal prelude to its renowned international security dialogue. The 2026 Beijing Xiangshan Forum Navigator Meeting is scheduled to convene in the Chinese capital from May 7 to 9, bringing together a diverse group of global security stakeholders.

According to Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, the event will gather more than 120 defense officials, scholars, experts, and media representatives from over 30 countries and international organizations. This wide participation underscores the forum's role as a key international platform.

Under the theme "Global Security Governance: Challenges and Approaches," discussions will center on three critical areas: the evolving international order and the rule of law, emerging security challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, and the management of risks associated with the military application of new technologies.

The meeting is a forward-looking component of the larger Beijing Xiangshan Forum. Co-hosted by the China Association for Military Science and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, the navigator meeting aims to set the agenda and foster dialogue for the main forum later this year. The initiative reflects a commitment to building open, inclusive, and equal channels for international security cooperation.

For analysts and observers of Asian geopolitics, the upcoming meeting represents a significant opportunity to gauge regional priorities and collaborative approaches to complex security issues. The insights and discussions generated in Beijing next month are expected to contribute substantially to the global conversation on peace and stability.
