A new international initiative aimed at advancing the peaceful use of nuclear technology was unveiled this week at the third International Nuclear Technology Application Conference in Beijing. The initiative, spearheaded by the China Isotope and Radiation Association, seeks to foster global collaboration in radiation processing, isotope production, and nuclear safety while addressing shared challenges in sustainable development.
Dubbed the 'Initiative to Jointly Build an Open, Inclusive, Universally Beneficial and Win-Win International Industrial Ecosystem for Nuclear Technology Applications,' the framework emphasizes mutual respect and equitable partnerships. Over 400 delegates from more than 20 countries, including the U.S., Russia, France, and Australia, attended the conference to discuss innovations in nuclear medicine, industrial applications, and safety protocols.
During the three-day event, which concludes today, the Chinese mainland showcased its latest advancements in smart nuclear medicine and outlined national policies supporting technological innovation. Industry leaders highlighted the initiative’s potential to accelerate post-pandemic economic recovery through cross-border knowledge sharing and infrastructure development.
Conference organizers emphasized the platform’s role in balancing technological progress with ecological safety, particularly for developing economies in Asia. 'This is about creating a stable, open ecosystem where all stakeholders benefit,' stated one delegate during a panel on radiation processing.
