Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared China's steadfast commitment to African partnerships during high-level talks with Namibian counterpart Selma Ashipala-Musavyi in Beijing on Friday. The meeting underscored deepening cooperation between China and Namibia as part of broader efforts to strengthen South-South collaboration.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that China-Africa relations have stood the test of time, stating: "Our diplomacy stands firmly with developing countries and African partners. Expanding China-Namibia cooperation aligns with both peoples' interests and the momentum of China-Africa relations."
The discussions highlighted concrete plans to implement tariff exemption policies and boost collaboration in agriculture, livelihood improvement, and youth development programs. Wang specifically acknowledged Namibia's adherence to the one-China principle while reaffirming support for the African nation's independent development path.
Ashipala-Musavyi reciprocated the sentiment, praising China's consistent support: "No matter international changes, Namibia remains committed to advancing friendship with China." The Namibian minister recognized China's stabilizing global role and expressed support for Beijing's international governance initiatives.
Both parties agreed to enhance multilateral coordination, particularly in upholding UN Charter principles and protecting developing nations' interests. The dialogue concluded with mutual commitments to advance practical cooperation while working toward more equitable global governance structures.
