China, Ford Discuss Trade Ties and Market Expansion in High-Level Talks

Chinese Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang met with Ford Motor Company's Chief Policy Officer Steven Croley in Beijing on April 15, 2026, to discuss bilateral economic cooperation and the automaker's role in strengthening cross-industry partnerships. The talks focused on stabilizing China-U.S. trade relations and leveraging opportunities in the automotive sector.

Li highlighted progress made since 2025 through six rounds of economic consultations under the guidance of both nations' leaders, emphasizing their role in fostering global economic stability. He noted the complementary nature of Chinese and U.S. automotive industries, urging Ford to expand its collaboration with Chinese partners to develop competitive products for domestic and international markets.

Croley reaffirmed Ford's long-term commitment to the Chinese mainland, citing its established supply chains and eagerness to explore new business models. Both parties expressed optimism for continued dialogue to address trade challenges and enhance mutual growth.
