China, Russia Reaffirm Strategic Partnership Amid Global Turbulence

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Beijing on April 14, 2026, underscoring the deepening coordination between the two nations amid a shifting global landscape. Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that China-Russia relations remain steadfast despite "severe turbulence" in international affairs, citing unilateralism and challenges to global governance as pressing concerns.

"Cooperation across various fields remains strong and resilient despite countless hardships and trials," Wang stated, highlighting the countries’ alignment on multilateral platforms. Lavrov echoed this sentiment, describing the partnership as one of "mutual respect and high trust," while pledging to advance practical collaboration in line with agreements between the two heads of state.

The ministers discussed critical regional issues, including the Ukraine crisis, tensions involving Iran and Israel, and stability in the Asia-Pacific. Their dialogue reinforced a shared commitment to countering what they termed "adverse currents" in global diplomacy through coordinated action.
