China’s 2025 Year-End Box Office Surpasses 2.5 Billion Yuan

China's year-end box office has soared past 2.5 billion yuan ($350 million) as of Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, fueled by a strong lineup of domestic and international releases. The November 28–December 31 release window has drawn over 50 films, with Disney's Zootopia 2 dominating the charts.

Since its simultaneous release in the Chinese mainland and North America on November 26, Zootopia 2 has shattered records, earning over 2.5 billion yuan in China alone — surpassing its predecessor's 1.538 billion-yuan total and setting a new benchmark for imported animated films. Notably, the Chinese mainland market has outperformed North America, becoming the film's largest global revenue contributor.

The year-end slate, which officially began on November 28, highlights China's growing influence in global cinema. Analysts attribute the surge to pent-up demand for family-friendly content and strategic release scheduling ahead of the holiday season. With more than 40 films still slated for December, industry experts predict further growth in ticket sales.
