China Urges EU to Foster Objective Perception, Strengthen Ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on the European Union (EU) to adopt an 'objective and rational perception' of China during the 13th China-EU High-level Strategic Dialogue in Brussels on Wednesday. The dialogue, co-chaired with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas, emphasized mutual cooperation as a stabilizing force in global affairs.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stressed that China-EU relations are fundamentally rooted in partnership rather than rivalry. 'Cooperation remains the main theme and ballast,' he stated, urging both sides to address differences through constructive dialogue within this framework.

Amid rising global uncertainty, Wang highlighted the shared responsibility of China and the EU as major economies to strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual trust, and safeguard the post-war international order. 'Our collaboration can provide the world with scarce certainty,' he added, underscoring the need to transcend historical and cultural differences to avoid unnecessary confrontation.

The remarks reflect China's push for pragmatic engagement with Europe, even as debates over trade, technology, and geopolitical alignment continue to shape the bilateral landscape.
