The 2026 Hainan Expo has emerged as a pivotal platform connecting international businesses with China's booming consumer market, according to Canadian exhibitor allKiDz Naturals. CEO Betty Wang described the event as "a window of opportunity" during an exclusive interview at this year's exhibition, now underway in China's southern island province.
"This expo uniquely bridges global suppliers with Chinese buyers while leveraging Hainan's free trade port benefits," Wang told CGTN, highlighting the 15% corporate income tax rate and streamlined customs procedures attracting overseas investors. Her organic children's product company is among 3,000 exhibitors from 65 countries participating this year.
The event coincides with accelerated development of Hainan's free trade port, a central component of China's economic modernization strategy. Recent policy updates allow duty-free annual shopping quotas of 100,000 RMB ($14,500) for visitors – a key draw for consumer goods exhibitors.
Cross-border trade volume through Hainan's ports reached $12.8 billion in Q1 2026, according to customs data released this week. The expo's business matchmaking sessions have already facilitated 78 signed agreements valued at $2.3 billion as of Thursday morning.
