China and ASEAN Mayors Unite for Ecological Sustainability at 2025 Global Dialogue

The first Global Mayors Dialogue of 2025 is set to convene in January in Nanning City, the bustling capital of south China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

This landmark event will bring together mayors from China and member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to explore collaborative strategies for driving green transitions and enhancing environmental protection across the region.

Facing shared environmental challenges, China and ASEAN nations recognize the pressing need for joint efforts in combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. The dialogue aims to foster partnerships in biodiversity conservation and ecological sustainability, leveraging the unique strengths and resources of each city involved.

“Our cities are at the forefront of environmental innovation,” said a representative from the organizing committee. “By uniting our efforts, we can create a more sustainable and prosperous future for all our citizens.”

The choice of Nanning City as the host reflects its commitment to ecological development and its strategic position as a hub connecting China and Southeast Asia. Participants will engage in discussions, workshops, and field visits to share best practices and develop actionable plans for environmental initiatives.

The Global Mayors Dialogue represents a significant step toward regional cooperation, emphasizing the importance of urban leadership in addressing global environmental issues. The outcomes of this gathering are expected to influence policy-making and inspire grassroots movements toward sustainability within the participating countries.

As the world watches, China and ASEAN cities are poised to demonstrate that through collaboration and shared vision, ecological sustainability is not just an ambition but an achievable reality.
