Chinese Shuttlers Advance to Three Finals at BWF China Masters in Shenzhen

Shenzhen, China – Chinese badminton players showcased stellar performances at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) China Masters in Shenzhen, securing spots in the finals of the women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles events after triumphant semifinals on Saturday.

In the women’s singles semifinal, Gao Fangjie delivered an impressive victory over Thailand’s Supanida Katethong with straight sets of 21-16, 21-15. Gao’s comprehensive skill set and strategic play gave her a clear edge throughout the match.

Gao is set to face top-seeded An Se-young of South Korea in the final. An secured her place by defeating Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki in a thrilling match that ended 21-5, 22-20.

The women’s doubles event guarantees a trophy for China, as the finals will see two Chinese pairs battling for the title. The No. 2 seeds, Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning, dominated Japan’s Nami Matsuyama and Chiharu Shida with a 21-12, 21-17 win. Their compatriots, Li Yijing and Luo Xumin, advanced by overcoming another Japanese duo, Tuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto, with scores of 21-16, 21-13.

In the mixed doubles, home favorites Fang Yanzhe and Huang Dongping continued their strong run, defeating Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei 21-18, 21-13. They will face another Malaysian pair, Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin, in the final showdown.

Despite a valiant effort, China’s Shi Yuqi was eliminated in the men’s singles semifinal by Indonesia’s Jonathan Christie, who won 21-17, 21-16. Christie will compete against Denmark’s Anders Antonsen, who emerged victorious over compatriot Viktor Axelsen in a captivating match that ended 16-21, 21-9, 21-20.

In men’s doubles, the Chinese pair He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu fell to Indonesia’s Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Muhammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, losing 21-16, 21-18. The Indonesian duo will face South Korea’s Jin Yong and Seo Seung-jae, who edged past India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty with scores of 21-18, 14-21, 21-16.

The finals promise to deliver exciting matches as players from across Asia compete for the prestigious titles at the BWF China Masters.
