42 Olympic Champions Lead China’s Delegation to Paris Olympics

China is set to make a significant impact at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games, as the nation officially announced a 716-member delegation in Beijing on Saturday. The team comprises 405 athletes, including an impressive 42 Olympic champions, ready to compete on the global stage.

The delegation features 136 male and 269 female athletes who will participate in 30 sports during the Games, which are scheduled to open on July 26. Zhou Jinqiang, deputy director of China’s State General Administration of Sport, revealed that the team has an average age of 25, with a strong contingent of 223 athletes making their Olympic debut in Paris.

Among the standout members is women’s skateboarding player Zheng Haohao, who, at just 11 years old, is the youngest athlete representing China. On the other end of the spectrum, 37-year-old race walker Liu Hong is gearing up for her fifth Olympic appearance, bringing a wealth of experience to the team.

The Paris Olympics are expected to host over 10,000 athletes from more than 200 countries and regions, with competitions running from July 26 to August 11. China’s robust delegation underscores the country’s commitment to excellence in sports and its aspiration to achieve outstanding results on the world stage.
