At the Tokyo Olympics three years ago, Wang attended as a substitute for the Chinese national team. His primary role was to assist his teammates during practice sessions. “Though I was in the stands watching the Chinese national flag rise for my teammates, I was no less excited,” Wang told China Media Group (CMG). “I was so happy about the honor they achieved and proud of them. I wanted to be like them.”

His momentum continued into the following year, where he made history by becoming the first table tennis player to win four gold medals at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
